Located on 2,500 acres of land in central Maine, our Somerset Mill is an integrated pulping and papermaking operation where we manufacture coated freesheet papers, grease-proof packaging papers and bleached chemical pulp. The three paper machines use Sappi North America's in-house developed online finishing technology, which set a quality bar for publication grades and reaps productivity benefits from fully integrating paper forming, coating and finishing.
Position (job title): Area Operations Supervisor - Pulping
Work Site: Mill Somerset
This position is for an individual who understands the technical aspects of kraft pulping, from wood handling, chip production, digester operation, washing, screening, bleaching, pulp machine operation, pulp furnish to 3 large paper machines, and including overall mill waste treatment operations. Kraft pulping experience particularly continuous digester experience is preferred. The person in this role is integral to the overall success of the pulping operations and, as such, is a key member of the management team:
- You will lead the safety initiatives that ensure an accident-free, safe, and productive workforce.
- You will lead your team’s efforts to deliver results at a low cost, high production without injury or incident and continuously improve production and operations.
- You will manage the day-to-day operations and shift crew, including safety, problem-solving, and contract administration to meet the production goals of the site.
- You will work in conjunction with maintenance personnel to ensure the targeted business results are achieved in your area of responsibility.
Meet or exceed departmental OIR and LWCIR objectives while delivering the monthly and yearly budget for your area of responsibility.
Meet or exceed targeted production rates.
Manage a diverse, highly skilled workforce in a team-oriented, self directed environment to meet the business needs of the organization. Develop good working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization both operations and maintenance.
