Senior Instrument Technician - Environment  ( HRL 15U/S8  )

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

Sappi Saiccor seeks to employ an incumbent to ensure environmental equipment is fully maintained, fit for operation to produce accurate data in line with accepted international standards

 

REPORTING TO: Area Engineer

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Engineer and manage environmental related projects
  • Monitor and control all technical related aspects, project budget, quality and documentation
  • Liaise with other disciplines and suppliers in relation to projects
  • Optimize environmental monitoring performance and control characteristics according to relevant standards
  • Maintain all equipment associated with the environmental installed base
  • Implement and commission  environmental related projects
  • Responsible for the maintenance and fault finding of telemetry systems and DCS equipment
  • Provide technical support and assistance to maintenance teams

 

KEY COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

 

  • Knowledge of environmental equipment
  • Strong fault finding ability
  • Knowledge of control networks, computer systems
  • Knowledge of environmental and industrial instrumentation
  • Knowledge of DCS systems
  • Ability to implement and maintain new ideas/systems
  • Good communication skills at all levels
  • Self-motivated who has the ability to work independently without supervision
  • Understanding or exposure to the ISO 14001 and ISO17025 standards

 

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

 

  • NQF6 qualification in Instrumentation (light current) (S4 National Diploma)
  • 5 years industrial experience
  • Proven DCS experience
  • Experience in communication networks
  • Analytical/analyser instrumentation experience
